Outdoor fridges may not reach their optimum operating temperature when they are almost empty. This is because there is very little thermal mass inside the fridge to help retain the cold, so the temperature can fluctuate greatly when the door is opened or when the ambient temperature changes.

For best performance, we recommend always running the fridge with products inside, such as bottles, cans, or other chilled items. Once the fridge has a reasonable mass, it should hold temperature more efficiently and work closer to its optimum capacity.

We would also recommend checking the following:

  • Allow the fridge to run for 24 hours. Try not to open the fridge frequently during the cooling period.
  • Check the ventilation around the fridge is not blocked.
  • Check the door seal is clean and closing correctly.
  • Avoid positioning the fridge in direct sunlight or next to a high heat source.
  • Check the temperature setting has been adjusted correctly.
